The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history and teaching American history to future generations.  The organization was founded in 1889 and is headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky. The SAR initiated the official recognition of Constitution Day, Flag Day, and Bill of Rights Day.  

The Birmingham Chapter was founded in 19?? and is a local chapter of the Alabama Society Sons of the American Revolution. The Birmingham Chapter has 109 members.

The SAR is the largest male lineage society in the country. Membership is open to any male who is 18 years or older - regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background - who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution.
