Soldiers and sailors from allied nations such as France and Spain who fought in support of American independence.
We are dedicated to perpetuating American ideals and traditions, and to protecting the Constitution of the United States. The SAR is the largest male lineage society in the country. How To Join
1. Research Your Patriot Ancestor
The first step toward joining the SAR is finding and identifying your patriot ancestor. Many have heard family stories about that distant grandfather who "fought in the Revolutionary War". The lineage from you to them, however, must be adequately documented. The resources below are good places to start your research.

2. Complete Your SAR Application
Once you have identified your patriot ancestor the application process may begin. The process includes collecting your data and filling out the (a) SAR Digital Application or the (b) fillable PDF SAR Application Form. The PDF form is paper-based and will require legal (8.5' x 14") acid free paper. Our Registrar, John Love, is available if you have questions.
